Lutz, originally Lutsch

If your looking for surname Lutz and you're researching southeastern Wisconsin, you may be "looking up the wrong tree". My ancestors emigrated to US in 1879-1881 from a region of then Prussia called Pomerania. There name was LUTSCH. Most of them were or became farmers west of Milwaukee, from 90th & Silver Spring to Kettle Morraine. Around 1900, they ALL changed their names from LUTSCH to LUTZ! They were a prolific group-- literally hundreds of offspring-- and chances are you are one of them! I have researched Lutsch back to 1800. Other names: Voelz,Horn, Abel, Schmidt, Schroeder, Gerlach, Goetsch, Jeffery, Hedmark, etc.

Most anxious to hear from you.
