It is posible that there is a connection between your Charles and my william (wilhelm). I don't have much information on the family other than what I have previously posted and also the following:

Wilhelm LUTZ mrried Agnes _______ in Berlin Germany.
They (not sure which side- likely Lutz) came from a well-to- family of weavers. They came to America as a young family (likely around 1840 or so), carrying one baby in a basket. At least one child was born in America. Two of the Lutz children (sons of Wilhelm and Agnes) fought in the Civil War--one of them was killed in battle(I do not know his name), and the other (John)died later from wounds (shot in the knee during the Civil War, later reinjured his knee and died of gangrene around 1870).

Mary Martha LUTZ, (b. 1840, in Germany--a daughter of Wilhelm (William) LUTZ and Agnes), married Johannes Adam PFEIFLE, on October 4, 1863, in Detroit, Michigan.
(Mary LUTZ and Johannes A. PFEIFLE were my greatgreat grandparents)

If you(or anyone else)has any further information on this LUTZ family or knows of a connection to my lne, please let me know, thank you.
