My greatgrandfather was Jacob Anton Lutz, son of Francis A. Lutz (you called him Franz). Interestingly enough, although I have a list of Francis's children, John was not one of them. I would love to have more information regarding John. What I am really looking for is information on Francis A. Lutz and Catherine Conrad Lutz prior to their arrival in Keoto, IA (their parents, brothers/sisters, when they immigrated, etc). From the information on their children, I know that Jacob was born in Batavia, their next child in PA, several in IL and some in IA.
The children that I knew about were:
1. Jacob Anton (6/7/1846, Batavia; married Magdalene
Gengler; died 2/8/1940 in Cawker City, KS)
2. Frank B. (8/7/1848, Lebanon PA; married Mary A.
Vogel; 9 children; die 2/18/1931 in Keota, IA)
3. Mary A. Lutz (1849-2/21/1916)
4. Elizabeth (1851 in IL)
5. George (born between 1852-1854; married a Jane Adamson
and died in Indiana)
6. Theresa (born 1855 in IL)
7. Rosa (born in 1858)
8. Catherine (8/28/1860; married Frank V. Vogel, 1
child; died 1947).
Does any of this match with your information? Where in this line does John fall?
I have visited Keoto, IA and been to Ss Peter and Paul Church and Cemetery. Within that cemetery are many Lutz stones. One of these is marked:
Margaret Lutz, dau of J & M, b 11/13/1890, d 9/29/1898
Could this Margaret be a daughter of your John and his wife?
The graves of Francis A. Lutz and Catherine (Conrad) Lutz are also here.
I also found 2 Conrad graves--Jacob L. Conrad (7/29/1827-7/26/1905 and Margaret Conrad b-10/18/1829; and Liborius Conrad (7/23/1806-1/12/1879) and Rachael Conrad (1810-2/15/1895).
Could these be brothers of Catherine's?
