Dear Forum Members I was wondering if anyone could spare some of their valuable time to assist me in my quest for my Tree. Firstly I should say outright that I do not believe I am directly linked by blood to the Luttrell Family but I suspect there may be some other kind of link. Like many before I have hit the proverbial brick wall and I am trying anything I can think of to knock this wall down! I am researching my PHILLIPS Line and I am back to circa 1823 in Bristol where my GGGGF Nathaniel PHILLIPS was inducted into the Government Excise. So what you say? Yes normally I would agree however Nathaniel's induction was at the recomendation of Lord Carhampton and I believe this to be Henry Lawes LUTTRELL 2nd Earl of Carhampton and now I think you can see why I have taken the step of posting to this forum. A recomendation to a Government position by a Lord is almost unheard of and that leads me to suspect that there may be some kind of collateral connection between my PHILLIPS and the LUTTERELL Family. Needless to say I am seeking to meet up with someone on this forum that has more of a close history of the LUTTRELL's than just simply names in Linage. Is there anoyone here that might be able to assist? I guess what I am looking for is a reason WHY and HOW Nathaniel came to be recommended by Lord Carhampton and perhaps - if I am real lucky - someone MIGHT just have some information linking the 2 families. Perhaps the PHILLIPS's were in Service or perhaps the families were linked by marriage - the possibilities are virtually limitless! Believe me I would bee most grateful for ANY information!
