My mother's maiden name was Luthy; she grew up in Pittsfield, Pike County. Her father was Charles Luthy and her mother Cordia Kibler. Her grandfather was Samuel Luthy and his wife was Maria Stuart; they are buried in a cemetery in Pittsfield.
We know the family came from Switzerland and a friend from there knew of the family home in Lucerne. He said the family name was Luther and they fled Germany at the time of the Reformation and lived in Switzerland for several generations before emigrating.
