I have a copy of the Minute Books for the Probate Records of Cherokee County, TX 1846 - ca 1875 by Ogreta W. Huttash.

LUSK, Samuel deceased
Jan 1853. "Burton Lusk and Mary Lusk petitioned saying that Samuel Lusk made a will 25 Sept 1852 and died 28 Nov 1852...

Will says "provided any bad luck befall me on my intended journey to Tennessee and back so that I shall return no more" wife Mary Lusk to enjoy full possession of land and stock and everything else...

More details are given, but I think this proves that Samuel was in Texas as Brenda Dearman's message indicated. If you would send me your snail mail address or fax#, I will forward a copy of the page. I also have Mary Lusk reference page in Jan 1862. Mary appears on the 1860 census with Burton and family in Cherokee Co, TX.
