Charles - I am a gggrandaughter of Sophia Lusk, b. 12-2-1842, dtr. of Charles Lusk and Lucinda Mix. Sophia married Absolam Wollis Croft Collins, probably in Mercer Co., Mo., on 10-21-1860. They had ten children, Horace Bassett, Velma Effie, Bascom Everett, Emerson Roscoe, Altha Vivian (died as an infant), Clifton Ogilvia, Tennie Electra, Absolam Wilkie (my grandfather), Belva Vinah and Vinnie Estell. Sophia stayed in Mercer Co., Mo. and died there 4-17-1933 (I have a copy of her obituary published in the newspaper). My grandfather and 2 maiden sisters (Belva and Vinnie) took care of Sophia until her death. Vinnie was last to die, in 1980, at Princeton, Mercer Co., Mo.
I have birth and death dates, as well as children and grandchildren of many of the children of Sophia, if that would be interesting to have in your book. Nelda Simpkins who has posted messages, is of my generation, being a daughter of Carter Collins and Beatrice Mattex, Carter being a son of Clifton Ogilvia Collins and Alma Anna Davis.
I am most interested in learning about my Collins line before AWC Collins, my gg grandfather (born 4-4-1838, undoubtedly in Ohio)- he was one of two brothers who survived a cholera epidemic that wiped out a wagon train on the way to Missouri from Ohio when they were small children - other trains rescued them and they were returned to Ohio, and AWC Collins returned to Missouri when he was a young man, around 18 or 19, became a schoolteacher and farmer and married Sophia on 10-21-1860 at age of 22. I know nothing of the other brother or the relatives left in Ohio, or the names of the parents who perished on the wagon train. Can Nelda or anyone else help??
