Rebecca, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. There are several haplogroups for the Lusk surname. It's not possible to be sure without testing given that we have already found five haplogroups represented with the Lusk surname. Most likely is R1b1b2 but that is just a guess.
I know from my test that there is a Leask and a Lisk with whom I share common ancestors well before 1600.But that will not be true for all Lusk's.The Q haplogroup is varied having emerged out of Asia.Q can be found in much of Europe but it is also prevalent in some Native American populations of North America.
Much of my line, in moving from the port of Philadelphia around 1710 to Texas in the 20th Century, settled along the banks of the Homochitto River, South of Natchez, MS beginning with Spanish Land Grants around 1780.There were many brothers who moved in several directions over the years.I have been concentrating on the main line up to now but am beginning to branch out into other lines as more Lusk's take the DNA test.If I come onto Joel I will let you know.
Again, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
Gil Lusk
