Jan,
The research on Wm Lusk who was married to Charity's isquestionable. There are few of my husband's line on the Lusk site.I had someone from this side who contacted me 2 years ago to send me some pictures of my husband's great grandparents. She has put me in contact with another person who has lots of pictures and research he has done.He also has a problem with the match up because there is just no proof. At least none we have ever seen.I have asked on the site if anyone has the documentation of the source.I was told not to question the research that has already been done.
This is the only Lusk family I have seen linked to the Neelys. If they have Benjamin Runyon's wife, Mary as mother to Wm, Charles and Jehu(John C.) and her name was Neely maybe they all belong to this line somehow.Another mystery is the Ruth Lusk married to John Corder. This family was closely associated with William's family and did not leave Ohio until after Wm. had died.He bought many of Wm's items at Wm's estate sale.Another thing that really bothers me is that the 1820 census and the 1830 census for William in Tazewell shows an older man living in the household, usually that is a father. It can not be Isaac Runyon, he died in 1821.Jehu C. Lusk married John Corder's sister but has really close ties with Charles's side as he bought land with Isaac Henderson in Benton Co., MO and moved there with Charles's side.John Corder and Polly Corder Lusk's mother is Rebecca Runyon, sister to Charity and Benjamin.Burgess Godfrey, stepbrother to Samuel and David, first goes with David to Kentucky but then come to Auglaize. His daughter married Hugh T. Rinehart.Hugh T. Rinehart's grandson married Clara Lusk, sister of my husband's great grandfather. One of the Bailey's who came to Auglaize also married a Rinehart.
I still think we areclosely related to the Samuel and David that are in Tazewell. The families are to intertwined. They were all living on the bluestone. There is a land record for William owning land in Abb's Valley on the Bluestone. There is also a land record with Charity and Wm selling land in Abb's valley in 1833 before coming to Ohio. They were living right next to a Rinehart and a Davisson. Why would Benjamin Lusk, after his first wife died make the trip all the way back to Tazewell to aquire another wife, unless there was still family back there?
One of the people in the DNA study is related to the Samuel in Tazewell and knows without a doubt their line does not descend from William and Sarah (Guinn) Lusk.I thought that was very interesting. My husband has sent for the 37 marker DNA kit.I sure wish a Lusk on the Charles branch would do the same.It sure is cheaper than another genealogy trip to VA.My husband has also started working and so the trip we planned this year is out of the question.I am doing everything by mail.I need to go back to the local Mormon History center and order films.
