I have worked on John C. Lusk, real name Jehu Compton Lusk per land records in Ohio.He married the daughter of Benjamin Corder.Benjamin and wife came to Allen Co. Ohio. There is a land record in Allen Co., OH between Jehu or John and Benj Corder and wife.John left Ohio and went to Benton Co. MO with Isaac Henderson Lusk, son of Charles.Charles followed with most of his family.
John's first born daughter, Rebecca married Wm Miller.Charles Sr. remarried after Ann Runyon died to William's sister Jane Miller and they had one child, Silas Charles Henry Lusk. This Lusk is the one on the 1850 census living with his mother Jane and grandfather, Henry.John C Lusk in one of the witnesses on the will of Charles but is not listed as a son.Charles's sons William, Isaac and Charles are the executors. He mentions in the will other children, Joseph and Edward and Polly Coleman. He also mentions younger children to be taken care of but no names.
John or Jehu also had the following other children.
Ingram C. Lusk m Mary Elizabeth Moore
Francis Margaret Lusk m William Moore, brother to Mary Elizabeth
Sarah, married 3 times, first husband is unknown but she had a son, Thomas, 2nd husband was a Young who she had 2 children, Garrett and Mattie Young, 3rd husband is supposedly John McGee in Kansas.
Mary Lusk ?
John Lusk ?
Levica Lusk ?
James L. Lusk m. Nancy Jane Cochran
Ann Lusk m. John W. Mansell
There is an E. Monroe, female on the 1860 census in Linn Co. Kansas, I believe this to be Isacc Henderson Lusk's wife.
She had Mary and Albert Lusk living with her in the 1860 census. There is a marriage for an Elizabeth Lusk and a Marquis Moore in Benton Co. in 1848.
John C. and Ingram C. Lusk's intials on records back then look alike.I think that John C with some of his family went to Linn county, KS.I do not think that John made it there but died on the way.I can not find any records that he died in Benton Co. and none to find he died in Kansas.Without any probate or will there is no way to know what happened to him.I think the one they have on all the records in Kansas is Ingram and sometimes his intials looked like J. C.
