Hi Loretta,
There is very little documentation known to me prior to 1720 or so.At this point I am using information gleaned from Ancestry.com and relying on that.In trying to obtain research in N. Ireland I was told by professional researchers there that prior to 1850 there are very, very few records in existance re births, deaths, marriages, wills, etc.
Joseph Lusk born sometime in the 1650's, 1660's ( I have used the date 1662 based on other information, but think that this date is inaccurate by perhaps as much as ten years) died in Ireland and his family did not come to the colonies until around 1715 plus or minus based on all that I can find. That line came into Philadelphia and settled in Chester Co. evenually spreading out from there with my line coming through Augusta Co. Virginia and then North Carolina and Miss. There are two John Lusks in my direct line.John Lusk, 1743-1811, who received Spanish and English land grants along the Homochitto River in Miss. and John Lusk, 1681-1730 born in Antrim and died in Chester Co.
The DNA project currently has 5 members and we are seeking more both here and abroad to try and make the connection with Scotland and our earlier roots. At this point we have two distinct lines showing up, one from Joseph and one from another Lusk line, based on DNA profiles. If you know of any male Lusk's out there we need additional DNA samples to build our data base and I would be happy to discuss the project with them by email.
Gil
