John/George Lupton; Edith May Pottage
Greetings.
I have found (as you all might know) that George Lupton was born in Tavistock, Devon, around 1800 or 1801. It appears that his parents were John Lupton and Joanna Doidge, who were married in September of 1798. I believe this John Lupton is referred to as George in the invaluable Luptonian Number 41. Edith May Pottage says that this person (John or George) died in 1808 in a war with Spain.
So much for background. I have had no success in learning more about John/George Lupton, except that the name does not appear to have a history in Devon. Is it possible that a relative of E.M. Pottage might have inherited her genealogical material, and might be able to tell me the source of/amplify her information?
I would also like (to put it mildly) any information on Elizabeth Emily Grearson, who apparently was married to William Henry Lupton around 1860. She and her two children vanish from the records some time after 1864, and William Henry goes on to marry Frances Agnes Buck, around 1872, and move to the US. He was on his way to join his brother, Thomas, in Ohio, but never got past New York.He died in New York September of 1911. He is buried in St. Michael's cemetery, Astoria, Queens, New York.
Thank you.
Regards,
Charles Rignall
