Hi, On my dad's paternal side, my great great grandfather was Svenung Thomasson Skogen who emigrated to the U.S. from Norway in 1850. His parents were Thomas Tigerson Skogen and Maria Lund/Lunde, who remained in Norway, possibly in or near Telemark. At some point after immigrating, Svenung changed his name to Svenung Thompson, and that's how the last name has remained. On my dad's maternal side, his mother Alice Bjerke emigrated to the U.S. from Oslo with her parents, Lauritz and Anne Marie Bjerke, in April 1927 on the ship Oscar. Lauritz and Anne Marie also had a grown son who chose to remain in Norway. His name was Rolf Bjerke. He may have been married and was in the Norwegian military.

I wonder if there's a connection anywhere here?
