My grandfather (Emanuel Bernhart Peterson) emmigrated to Clearwater County, MN about the same time. He was Danish and had changed his last name from Petersen to avoid disclosing his "ethnicity". He apparently worked for the Marmorine and Larson families in some sort of lumber business and eventually married my grandmother, Emily Olivia Larson. What did your family members do in Clearwater? Also, have you contacted the Clearwater County Historical Society, PO Box 241, Bagley, MN 56621? They have been very helpful to me.
