Hi, Cousin Nancy!
I live in MD so I have been to Orange, Spotsylvania and Louisa County courthouses in VA. I do have Alice Lumsden Brown's book, I met her several times at a Lumsden gathering near Fredericksburg, Va. as well as her brother John F. Lumsden and his wife. I have found a couple of errors in my portion of Alice's book, so I'd be careful using that as a reference, but she did an amazing amount of research. I have Susannah Mathew's father listed as Cliverous Duke, but I don't have a reference for that info, I suspect it came from Alice L. Brown.
I am also looking for the parents of Martha Ann Hilman b 1815 Spotsylvania, d 1918 Orange, Va. married to Richard Mathews Lumsden.
Good luck with your search!
Linda
