The House of Lumsden Association will hold it's tenth "Gathering" in our thirty year history, Saturday, May 24th, 2003 at Luffness Castle, near Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Weekend of the 24th May is a long week-end in the United Kingdom-with the monday being a Public Holiday. May into early June is often a particularly lovely time in Scotland with many gardens at their best and "open", also there are exhibitions etc., held then, without the crush of visitors that come in July and August. The Evenings stay light until about 10 P.M.

Luffness is a large, part-16th century Castle, privately owned, about 30 mins drive east of Edinburgh [near Gullane and other famous golf courses on the coast]. The Gathering will beheld in the Edwardian Ballroom and during the day will include an informal buffet-style lunch and in the evening, a formal dinner. Members of the House of Lumsden Association of America can bring their partners/families and a number of rooms will be available [B&B] in the Castle, as well as various apartments and cottages to rent on the estate. [Early bookings for these are essential, please request details as soon as possible]. Otherwise there are several hotels or B&B places in the area-and of course everything in Edinburgh.

On the day following the Lumsden "Gathering", Sunday 25 May, David Lumsden, Baron of Cushnie, will have Open House at his residence: Hamilton House, Presonpans, East Lothian-which is not far from Luffness.

All Lumsden descendents are eligible and encouraged to attend. The Fall 2002 newsletter will be full of the exciting details concerning the Lumsden Gathering. For information on joining the House of Lumsden Association of America and copies of the newsletters, please contact John F. Lumsden, 1900 Beersheba Road, Columbus, MS., 39702.
