Dear Carol,
You and I corresponded through e-mail a couple of weeks ago, when I wrote in mention of my struggles over finding the parents of Patsy "Ginsey" Lumpkin who married John M. Adkins, son of Amos Adkins/Atkins (who fought in the REV WAR)from VA.Patsy or Ginsey (which must have been a nickname...at least assuming), was the daughter of Anne Lumpkin...and from what research I have so far found, possibly the daughter of William Lumpkin. In 1795, when Patsy and John M. Adkins were married, her mother Anne Lumpkin signed her surety.I have also found an Anne Lumpkin with a daughter Patsy, and this Anne's last name was COURTNEY.Does this ring a bell?
I just sent you an email this afternoon as you had said that you would send me a CD for all of your Lumpkin and Adkins/Atkins research. It has been a two or three weeks and I was afraid that I had misjudged what you were going to share with me.
Bless your heart...being 83 years old and still "going strong" with your research.I am 60 years old, a 2 cancer survivor and now riddled with arthritis. My traveling days are sadly at a standstill.I used to love to hop in the car and travel to Massachusetts, Conn., NY, VA or Missouri, chasing my ancestors. The golden years have not appeared and I am in a quandry as to just what happened to them.Somedays I fell 90 yrs. old.
When I saw your message here on GEN FORUM, which was written after you and I had shared several e-mails, I got nervous. You are just incredible and have such a vast reservoir of knowledge on the Lumpkin/Lumkin family.
I am hoping to hear from you really soon!Either through Gen Forum, post office, or email.
Thanks...Linda Siekman
