Dear Virginia, your post has me astounded as I believe we may be close cousins. My story is very long and has been in research for four years. Very briefly, I was adopted at the age of 2 1/2 and named Thomas Freeborn "Peter" Bundy, Jr. My adoptive parents never told me I had been adopted. Years later I learned my birth name had been Richard Flemming Kuhr. I knew my father was Danish, but didn't know his name. I knew my mother was an American who grew up in Denmark, but didn't know her name. I finally discovered my mother's mother had divorced , remarried a Dane, Werner Kuhr. He adopted the girls and took them to live in Svendborg, Denmark. Now we go backwards. My grandmother had married a wealthy irish man from Freeport, L.I., Frank Lynch. My grandmother was Marjorie Lumb, the only child of George W. and Jennie Lumb. If I understand your post correctly , your great grandmother(I believe, Margret), being the youngest in the family, was two years younger than my great grandfather, George. When I first started tracking the Lumb lead I was led off the hunt, by the other family of Enoch to which you made reference as well as by my mistaken belief that George's father could not have been that old. Quite a guy! In any event , by the time I found my mother's family, she had passed away (Marjorie/Peg), but her sister, Joan Lumb Kahan is still alive and well in Colorado. She told me just today about the reality of the Lumb connection and that Enoch had been head of a prominent family and that there is something about his having given a large piece of land adjacent to the NY Library . I'm still trying to track that down, but in the course of doing so I came across your post. Hope to hear from you soon. Best, Peter
