Dear Wanda,
My father was John Henry Luker Jr. of Maringo county, Al. He had a younger brother named William. (Wm.A?) He had an uncle named William, one of several uncles who lived on adjoining farms given by James Wesley Luker, their dad.
There may be some kinship ties here.
Dad's uncles were: Sid, Sam, Wm, and his dad was John Henry Sr.
My dad, John Henry Jr. was born May 19, 1893, in Maringo Co and moved to Pensacola,Fl when he was about 27 yrs old, met and married Mary Etta Petty, Sept.23, 1920, worked 40 years on the L& N RR. Built a large home in Crestview, FL where we 5 kids grew up. (Ruth, Hazel, JN, Glen, and R.D.)
Do you know anything about Sid,Sam,John Henry? Dad's grandfather was James Wesley Luker, Grandpa "JIM" as dad called him.
I visited the old home place with dad when he was 95 yrs. old. He married INEZ JONES after mom died Apr.21, 1962. They lived in Jackson, Al in their later years. Dad died Aug.1, 1989, and is buried beside mom in Crestview, FL.Tune in www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/7674/ for more personal information about our background. I married Virginia Dickson March 30, 1951 and we recently celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniv. here in Dallas, TX.
