My research indicates three primary Luke families in pre Civil War Georgia.

Perhaps the largest was Daniel M Luke who moved from the Pee Dee River section of South Carolina to the Berrien County, Irwin County and Ben Hill county of South Georgia.

Another Luke family settled in the Augusta area of Georgia.

My wife's family seems to orginate in Laurens County with John Luke, then moved to Berrien County just before or during the Civil War.
