1910 photos of Rose Doris Ludlow, Piqua, Miami Co., OH
I purchased the two subject RPPCs (Real Photo Postcards) sent by a young woman named Doris (she evidently preferred to use her middle name) from Athens, OH, to her mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. C.[Charles] J. Ludlow, 110 Staunton Street, Piqua, OH.
The earlier postcard, postmarked 15 Oct 1910, depicts the subject woman and another woman standing together in a lush garden, with the message back home reading:
"Saturday--And we struck an attitude!!!x! He made me pose thatway. Dear mum and pop:- Here we are in all no glory- Lovely (?) pictureisn't it? I certainly have an angelic expression, if I never again will have one- Would love to be with you for today- Have that of you all day- Will write tomorrow - Lovingly, Doris-"
The second postcard, postmarked 17 Oct 1910, depicts the subject woman and two other women, with the message back home reading:
"Loving, Doris- 'Charlotte Ullman, Simms?and myself' Dear mum and pop:-Just a glimpse at my new hat. It is better of that than of the person beneath- Sullivan a 'loon,' takes our pictures and gives them to us- Not very good-but you can see what the hat looks like- I suppose you are enjoying Aunt Ella's visit-"
I found Rose Doris Ludlow and her family listed in the 1900 and 1910 Census data for Piqua, Miami Co., OH.She was born May 1890 in OH, the daughter of a salesman, Charles J. Ludlow, born Dec 1866 in OH; and Ada/Addie M. (maiden name unknown), born Sep 1867 in IN.They resided at 110 Staunton Street.
