My maternal grandfather was a Ludden from Lee, Penobscot Co., Maine. One of his uncles, Thomas Jefferson Ludden, b. in 1856, went west to Minnesota and on to Trinity Co., California. There is information about his family in Wallace Ludden's book about James Ludden the Old Planter. My parents have a copy. Some of Thomas Jefferson Ludden's descendants are living in northern California. I don't know whether this is helpful or not. My great-grandfather's name was Frederick and he and Thomas Jefferson had a brother John. The name John Frederick therefore struck a chord with me.
