There is speculation that James Ludden, "The Old Planter", arrived in North America in 1624 from The Netherlands as a result of his association with the Pilgrims during their stay in Holland before their arrival in North America in 1620. The timing makes sense and there are Dutch Luddens. However, obviously there is an English family, too.
