Doner/Loya saga continues
Hi all,
I have dug up some more pieces of the Doner and Loya families' stories. I found some info. in U.S. census records that I was looking through in hopes of finding where Thomas Sr. and Lucy may have moved to in VT when they left Chazy (if they even did -- I have no proof, only a hunch since the rest of their family ended up in VT). Instead I ran across Andrew Doner and Nancy, and Thomas Jr. and Jessie. In the 10th census (1880) I found Andrew and Nancy living in Benson. The children listed as living with them at that time were the same four that I posted a couple of days ago: Rosabell, Loretta, Charlie, and Jessie (this is as they are spelled in the census). Also, Julia Patno (spelled like this in the census), listed as mother-in-law to Andrew, was living with them at this time. Nancy's father was dead, as her mom, Julia, is listed as widowed. There were also two nieces of Andrew and Nacy living with them: a Cora Patno and a Jennie Patno. Andrew's occupation is listed as farmer. Then, in the 12th U.S. census (1900) I found that Andrew and Nancy had moved to Shoreham and were living a few houses down from their daughter Jessie who was now married to Thomas Loya Jr.Andrew and Nacy had more children between 1880 and 1900. They now had another son named Charles A. (b. Nov. 1895), a daughter named Mamie H., b. May 1893, and another daughter, Florence J., b. July 1898. Thomas Loya Jr. and Jessie had two sons at this time: Daniel, b. July 1895, and George b. March 1898. That's all for now. I'll keep you all posted.
Mike
