Grady
I enjoyed your post. I am working on the Weatherwax Genealogy 1710-1930 for publication next year.
The paarents of Lovina Sarah Weatherwax b:25 Jul.1867 in MO.;d: 18 Feb 1940 in Eureka ,Greenwood,KS were:
Abraham L. Weatherwax (1830-1903) and his wife Elizabeth Eliza Johnson (1839-after1900. In USC1870 she appears with her parents in Clinton,Ringold,IA (pg 4,lines 19-23) Her fathers middle intial was "L" probably for Leonard which was his fathers given name. They had three children and I have all their marriages and descendants.
Lovina and first husband Sherman Richardson were married 22 Feb 1888 in Butler,Bates co MO. (Mo. marriage records).
They appear together in USC1900 in Twin Groves (sheet 9B,lines51-58) Greenwood,KS. USC 1910 finds them in the same location (sheet 7B,lines 77-84) In KS State census 1915 Lovina is alone without a husband. On 16 Feb 1916 she married William H. Loy in Greenwood KS (Greenwood co Marriage index,Book G,pg 384).
In USC1920 William and Lovina appear in Liberal,Seward co KS. (sheet:3B,lines 56-59) she has two of her Richardson sons living with them.
Somewhere in between it appears she married a Charles A. Hosington. Lovina appaers in USC1930 as Vinia Hosington in Fall River,Greenwood co KS (sheet 4b line 87) note this is clearly not an exact match, her age is off as well as all pob given. So this could be an error. Them she is reputed to have married a C.P. Hansen ( I have found no record of this match) Her dod is from my former research partner Ann T. Hunt who passed away last Jan. I'm still going through Ann's notes to find a source for that death record.
The Weatherwax history you cite is slightly off. Our family arrived in the summer of 1710 and were all sent up the Hudson to "East Camp" which is near present day Germantown, not the Mohawk Valley. The family remained in both Dutchess and Ulster co NY until about 1760. In 1765 the oldest son of the immigrant moved to present day Rensselaer co NY where he purchased 2800 acres of land in Tomahannock creek(Present day Pittstown NY).After this a couple of Weatherwax families moved to the Mohawk Valley.
From this one commmon ancestor at least 4 different lines of descent moved into Iowa. I have documented 55 known spelling variations of our family name "Weatherwax" the most common is one of four still in used today.
I cannot verify the deaths of any of her spouses so far, so whether they died, left or divoced is speculation at this point.
I know Jane Martin is working on this line and she forwarded your post to me, which I enjoyed sharing.
