Your Elisha Lowe caught my attention. My great-great grandfather was Napoleon Elisha Lowe, but went by Elisha. He was the son of Joseph and Rebecca Vance Lowe.Joseph was born about 1795 in VA.Family tradition is that the Lowe's came from NC. Joseph and Rebecca's children were:Elisha, born 1827, married Elizabeth Doss; Anne Lowe, born abt. 1832, married James Suthers; Clementine Lowe, born abt. 1834, married Aaron Brewer; Lydia Lowe, born abt. 1836, married James Workman; Samuel Lowe, born abt. 1842; Levi Lowe, born abt. 1840; Peter Lowe, born abt. 1843; Joseph Bradley Lowe, born Jan. 10, 1845, married Sarah McReynolds, America Smith; Sena Lowe, born abt. 1847; Thomas S. (or Thomas Leftridge Lowe), born March 12, 1850, Sarah (Susan), born March 12, 1850; Rebecca Lowe, born abt. 1852; George Lowe, born abt. 1851; William A. Lowe, born abt. 1852; and Sam Lowe, born aft. 1852.These have all been listed as children, but some of the younger ones could have been grandchildren.Joseph Lowe was listed in the 1824 Logan Co., VA/WV tax list. Also in the area at the time was Thomas Patrick Lowe.
Elisha and Elizabeth Doss Lowe had these children: Robert E. Scott Lowe, born 1851, married Caroline Hill; Amos Bradford Lowe (Ben), born 1853, married Minerva McCoy; James Madison Lowe, born 1856, married Margaret Fowler; Joseph Lowe, born 1858, died as an infant; Joseph Lowe, born 1859, also died young; Thomas L. Whitten Lowe (Whit), born 1860, married Malissa Blair (my great-grandparents); Mary Lowe, born 1864, married Henry Godby; A. Sydney Lowe, born 1867, married Ruth Mills, Susan McCloud; Joseph Lowe, born 1869, married a Doss; Belle Lowe, born 1874, married Charlie Mobley, Charlie Johnson.
Do you see any connection?I have never been able to find the parents of Joseph and Rebecca Vance Lowe.Any help would be appreciated.
