My branch of Low(e) family came over to the U.S. from Scotland around 1880. Looking for living relatives still there. Have researched back to 1750 at this point. Names generally Robert or William. Maiden names of spouses Meiklejohn, Jack, White, and Sellis. Lived in the Scoonie Parish of Leven Fife, Scotland. Family folklore says William of 1746 was a Mackenzie Highlander that fought with Prince Charles against the British at Culloden (1746). Because of defeat fled to Lowlands and changed his name to Low. Any similiar wild stories that might match? William Low married Mary(Margaret) Mieklejohn Nov. 30, 1754. Robert(b. 1759 son of William) married Janet Jack Jan. 4, 1790. Children: Elizabeth(1791);William (1794); Mary (1795): Janet(1797); Charles (1799); John (1802. William (1794) married Mary Skirvan White Aug. 21,1860. Children: Robert (1832); Jane (1839) Robert(1832) was a Hotel Innkeeper at the Royal Hotel Auchtermuchty. (Three of his children born at hotel.) Children: Jane Sellis Lowe (1862); Edward Stephen Lowe (1864); William Milne Lowe (1869); Mary skirving White (1868); Roberta Alice Lowe (1871). Looking for descendans of son William Milne Lowe born 1869 or Mary Skiring Lowe, or Roberta Alice. My family is descended from Edward Stephen (1864). Or any other connection with the tree described here.
