On a recent trip to Scotland, my husband and I discovered the gravestone of family of John Low and Elizabeth Gourlay in the Canongate Cemetery in Edinburgh. Although most of their children died young or as single adults, a few of them may have married.
JOHN LOW was born January 01, 1813 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, the son of Alexander Low and Helen Smibert, and died November 19, 1875 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. He married ELIZABETH GOURLAY January 01, 1840 in St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, daughter of DAVID GOURLAY and ELIZABETH BROWN. She was born July 04, 1816 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, and died June 11, 1898 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.

Alexander Low, 1842-1843
John Low, 1844-1910; single at time of death.
Robert Bruce Low, 1846
Helen Smibert Low, 1848-1916
David Gray Low, 1850-1851
Annie Eliza Low, 1852-1933
George Low, 1854-1875
