My great grandmother was Polly Belle Lovins who first married Julius Wilson Caudill, Laurel or Clay Co, KY, ca 1905; they had Lucy Mae Caudill, who was raised by James Irvine & Lizzie Philpot Griffin; Polly Belle & Wilson divorced and she married, ca 1912, to William Lucas Smith of Whitley Co, KY; on her marriage record to Lucas, her mother is listed as Mary Jane Lovins, no father listed.......now......I don't know if the reason they didn't list her father was because they didn't know or because he was dead at the time, and I also don't know if Lovins is Mary Jane's maiden name or her married name; I DO know that Pulaski Co, KY, plays a part in this because there was kinfolk there as well as in Laurel Co; the Griffins brought Lucy Mae to Estill Co, KY, where she married my grandfather, Coleman D. Gray, in 1922, when she was about 15 years old; Laurel Co census shows "Belle" in the household of Marcus Brown as a "servant"; I feel like we come through Nimrod Lovins, but at this time I don't know who, how, or what! HELP!!!!!!!!!!
