I have done a little census research on the "Lovick" family.
By 1850, there were no Lovicks in the Census in the following states KY,NC,VA,IL,IN,ME,NH,VT,MA... The fact that the line isn't tripled by 1850 usually means that the name has varied.
In 1850 in NC, FTM indexed a Spencer and William Lovick BUT, when you look at the census record the spelling most closely resembles loviett and loviet - these are spelling variations for the Lovit/Lovitt/Lovet/Lovett names.
My guess is that you should concentrate your searches in the Lovitt and Lovett areas rather than LOVICK. I am especially interested in the Lovick, William family as there is an Edward who could be an ancestor of mine - given the dates mentioned
I would like any information whatsoever on these families.
There are a ton of given names beginning with an "E" in the "Lovett Census book" by Geneologuide - the book probably would be an excellent resource for your research it takes into account all the variations of the spelling of the Lovett name...
I am very very interested in anything you know about this person....My ancester was Lovit E
