Joseph Lovelace and 5 sons listed in poem by J.Lovelace
In an old funny looking "magazine" called THE OLD HOMESTEAD,
about 6-1/2 inches wide x 9-l/2 inches long, found in my deceased Aunt's things:
Page 55 - a poem about his family by Joseph Lovelace. No other info is given about the author. However, the poem includes the names of his sons:
John( author says he is the first)
Willie
Frank
Harry
Harold(author says he is the youngest)
THE OLD HOMESTEAD Vol VI, Atlanta, GAApril 1894 Vol. 5
A sort of almanac with bits of this and that - including women's patterns, weather, poems and stories, advertisements of the day, news of Confederate Veterans, offers for books and prints of famous paintings, etc.
I would be happy to copy the poem and send it to a family member if one can be located.I have been unable to locate a Joseph Lovelace using the internet that might have been an author of poems in about 1894.
And his sons would not be listed in the 1880 US Census.
I hope someone will identify with this family of five young sons and very loved.Sorry that the poem does not have anything about the author and no place is listed.
