Our Lilla was actually "Lilla". My grandmother was named Lilla Lovejoy McAllister after her. But our Lilla was born on February 17, 1863 in Waitsfield Vermont. Moretown and Waitsfield are closer to Montpelier, and are all in Washington County. (which is also where I was born) When I found the 1880 census, I assumed that this was the right link, as Moretown is where we are from. And also because of the "Aunt Nettie" that was remembered. I know Stockbridge is a bit south of there, closer to Rutland, and is in Rutland County.
I don't know what to think! I am going to dig out the old photos we have, and see if I can locate one of her. From what I remember, no one on that side of the family has the NA nose or cheeks. ( I got that from my fathers side!) Please feel free to email me a picture if you have it on your computer. I would love to see this!
