No obvious connection I am afraid, Julie. My earliest known "fact" is William Loveday born March 1823 in St Marylebone parish. His parents William and Eliza, origin as yet unknown. William (b 1823) was in London for every event traced so far up to 1881 census, and there is at present no evidence of Richard in the main family. The 1851 census shows a Richard Loveday cabinet maker (related profession to William's French polisher of that time)in Princess Street, St Marylebone, but I haven't proven a connection as yet. Doesn't seem to fit, I think. Unless my William had an elder brother (unlikely since the family tended to name first-born after the parents. Maybe there is a cousin connection? I presume you have no hint as to location?

I'll keep the details on file just in case something turns up.

Good luck in the meantime.
