I've found with my line -- in New York since 1632 -- that the spelling changed often, and back and forth. My second-great grandfather spelled it Lounsberry, his sons spelled it Lonsberry or Lounsberry. Maybe it was expression of personality or independence or a feud or maybe they just couldn't spell by the way.
By the way, my son Lee is Allen Lee Lonsberry III and my mother's name was Natilee. Small world.
