She was Mrs. Henrietta Lounsbury, widow of Philip Lounsbury, a native of Richmondville and for many years a resident of Medusa. Much of her married life had been spent in the Dean's Mills neighborhood. There were several notable circumstances connected with Grandma Lounsbury's life and death. She was born at midnight, July 8, 1862, and died at midnight, July 8, 1955, on her 93rd birthday. Few individuals of this era can count as many blood relations as Grandma Lounsbury. Five children of two marriages are living, none very far away; and in addition there are 33 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 5 [great] great grandchildren. Mrs. Lounsbury counted among her close family also two stepchildren, Edward Lounsbury of Clarksville and Mrs. Samuel Stevens of Westerlo. Mrs. Lounsbury's children are two daughters of her first marriage, to George Carpenter: Mrs. Henry Jeram of Newtonville and Mrs. Blanche McConnell of Lake George; and three of the Lounsbury marriage: Philip Lounsbury of Albany, Mrs. Martin Ahl of Erie, Pa., and Mrs. Leonard Cook of Medusa. After services Monday at the Cunningham Funeral Parlors in Greenville Mrs. Lounsbury was interred in Elmwood Cemetery at Bethlehem Center. Notify Administrator about this message?
