Gideon Lounsbury b: 1751 sp- Margaret
I am interested in any information on place of birth/death/burial for this Gideon who is a son Gideon, son of Henry. I have a note from a grandaughter in Ohio(written in 1890s) that indicated Gideon served all through the Revolutionary war. A record exists that he was in the Westchester county militia. The daughters of the American Revolution keep a list of Revolution war soldier burial sites that are known and Gideon is not listed. I am not sure if they consider militia volunteers the same as enlisted soldiers or if his grave has not been found or reported? I have an unsubstantiated note from research by C. Claude Lounsberry in 1895. " Gideon Lounsberry son of Gideon and Deborah Buxton removed to Delhi,N.Y. coming back to Stamford in 1811 and married for his second wife Abigail Bishop,a widow. He died in 1823, leaving James of Carmel,N.Y.,John of Bedford,N.Y.,Gideon of Cortland,N.Y., and Harvey of Kent,Putnam Co.N.Y.,and also a son Zabud, and three daughters,Hannah Ferris, Deborah Ketchum.and Maria Hervy."It appears from this note Gideon may have died in Stamford and born there as well. I am a descendant of Gideon's son Harvey who reported to census he was born in Connecticut( b:7/22/1795). Any record any one may have on this Gideon I would love to hear from you!
