DNA testing for LOWE, LOW, LOE, LOUGH, LOEW men

We have begun a LOWE-LOW-LOE-LOUGH-LOEW men's DNA Project thru Family Tree DNA company in Houston, Texas. This is a "non-profit" project run by LOWES for LOWE descendants to find their familial roots thru DNA testing. We started the project to test my Lowe lineage from Zadock and Levi Lowe of Monroe/Roane Counties,West Virginia but have now expanded to cover all other LOWE lineages.

The basic goal of this LOWE men's DNA project is to obtain DNA samples for analysis and comparison with other LOWE cousins in the United States, Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and other countries to determine kinship and ancestry back to European forefathers who immigrated to the colonial regions from 1640 to 1800 and later.

As of 12/31/2002, the LOWE DNA project had 22 participants.
Seven of the men from our Levi and Zadock Lowe's lineage that submitted DNA matched on all 12-DNA biallelic markers that were analyzed and a eighth matched on 11 markers. This DNA testing has irrefutably proved that our Zadock and Levi Lowe lineages originally from Prince Georges County, Maryland and Monroe County, West Virginia were probably brothers. Twenty years of paper research failed to tie them as kin. Our Lowe were proven to be Anglo-Saxon of Germanic-Scandinavian background as 8 of our LOWE men matched on the 12 DNA markers.. Our genetic markers put us in HG2 Haplogroup...

We invite LOWES from other lineages to join our study to
find related cousins from their LOWE lineages and their European. Four of our 11 other men from other LOWE lineages have been identified as in an entirely different genetic haplogroup known as HG1 or peoples from the Atlantic-European coastal areas of England, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, Basque, Holland and Belgium.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our LOWE men's DNA project testing..

.....The human has +46 chromosomes. There is an male
.....chromosome Y and a female chromosome X. We are
....testing only a part of the Y male chromosome at 12
.....marker sites to match it with other LOWE men Y
.....chromosomes 12-markers. A match on all 12-markers
.....indicates kinship. This test shows male descendancy and
.....nothing else. This is not a paternity-type DNA test like the
......military now uses with all inductees; nor, does it test all
......46+ chromosomes to reveal personal and private genetic
......information that some labs could use for medical or screening or law enforcement uses to identify
......forensic evidence. We are testing only the 12 marker
......sites on the male Y chromosome to demonstrate kinship
......of each LOWE man.
.....Only male LOWE descendants whose great-grandfathers,
.....grand fathers, and fathers are named LOWE. The Y
.....chromosome is passed down to every male LOWE
.....descendants. We can test the LOWE DNA a thousand
.....years from now and will still have the same Y
.....these 36th great grandfathers passed to their sons
.....and grandsons... We are looking for exact matches to
.....the 12-markers among our LOWE men's DNA...
.....You may go to this Family Tree DNA company site and
.....enter your full name, address, zip code, phone number,
.....and email address at this URL page...

.....The test also requests payment method invoice or card. The invoice requires a check that can be
.....sent back when the test is mailed back to the FTDNA The 12-marker test is $99 plus $2 dollars
.....postage and the more conclusive 25-marker test is
.....$170. FTDNA also offers many other DNA tests and
.....mtDNA that shows maternal kinships...
.....The DNA sample consists of loose cells in each's cheek that are brushed off, sealed in a liquid
.....and sent back to the Family Tree DNA company for
.....testing... The test sample doesn't entail blood or
.....other invasive tissue sampling. The buccal test takes
.....about 60-120 seconds brushing inside the mouth and is
.....non-invasive and non-painful. Dr. Mike Hammer's lab at
.....the University of Arizona analyses all DNA samples...
.....He is one of the foremost geneticists in DNA analysis the world today; and, FTDNA has over 300 surname projects likes ours underway...
.....All test subjects will be given a test project number
.....and all DNA results will be released by test kit
.....number. Participant names and DNA results will not be
.....released together unless I receive an email from them me permission to divulge and publish their The Family Tree DNA company is also bound by
.....Texas state law not to release your information to
.....anyone!! And, as project coordinator I will honor each's privacy.
.....Once we have enough LOWE men in our DNA project test
.....sample to completely identify our 12-markers on our
.....male Y chromosome then we can compare our LOWE's DNA with LOWE men's DNA from Scotland or
.....England or the USA. The LOWE males in Europe that are
.....related to us will exactly match the same 12-markers on
.....the male Y chromosome as our LOWE men. If we find a match there we will have found our European
.....cousins !! That is what our project is find our
.....cousins in Europe and that immigrated to other countries.

If you have other questions or concerns, please contact me as LOWE project coordinator. We invite interested LOWE men from over the world to become participants in this unique LOWE, LOW, LOE, LOUGH, LOEW DNA men's testing project.

Thanks all...
