Hi Barbara.......the reason for your confusion is that people are still copying and posting undocumented family trees to the internet. John Loucks that married Margaret Gregory WAS NOT William Loucks son. Who his father was I have been unable to find any reference.He has been a ghost that continues to elude me. John is my 3x great gf.
Where the Maryland entry comes from is the listing of his place of birth in the various census. Also many of the online family trees will list his date of death in the 1890's, placing him over 100 years old. This to is also incorrect if you will take a look at the various census's. He is shown living with Margaret in the 1850 census for Randolph County Va. In the 1870 census she is shown living with there son George. So it is my belief that he dies within that 20 year time period
William did in fact have a son by the name of John.He was born in Huron Pa 08/15/1794 He married Jane Shelton in 1822. He and Jane are named in Williams will. John died in Gallia Ohio 01/15/1855
