Thanks for the offer re the book.I don't have it, but believe I've seen a quote from it concerning Dr Lott:
he "was skillful as a surgeon, exceedingly eccentric, terribly profane and passionately fond of music; he would often dance, sing and play the violin at the same time."
That made me want to find out -- and if there's more on the Dr on page 86 of the book, I would indeed enjoy hearing about it!
I'd like to find out what his special interest was in medicine -- was he a GP, a family doc who probably delivered a lot of babies in his rounds? Given the incidence of twin births in the families I'm looking into, I can imagine a doctor's assistance might be remembered with gratitude -- maybe enuf to inspire a family to name a child for him.
After seeing notes that the doc had just one child himself, I've also wondered whether he might have fostered others.
All speculation, and any info you've found will be most welcome!
