Following is information on the Will and estate of Sarah Lott
The followingfound by another researcher on Sarah Lott:
"Sarah Lott (near the Ridge) in 96 District took a Citation on the Estate
of
Jesse Lott decd, as next of kin--filed Citation on 3rd day of Dec. 1782
and
granted at same time Letters of Administration to said Sarah Lott who
qualified as Aminsx. Warrant ofAppraisement granted Dedicmus to Philmon
Waters Es. to qualify appraisers--usual Bond & Securites. John Fredrick
and
James Fredrik.
25 Feb. 1783 Inventory and Appraisment Returned and filed in Ordinary's
office."

In the name of God, Amen.I, Sarah Lott of the State of South Carolina and the District of Edgefield,being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God.Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all persons once to dye, doe make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I Recommend to the Earth, to be buried in a decent Christain manner at the discretion of my friends and as touching such worldly Estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this Life.I give and dimier(?) and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First of all I desire my grandson Emsley and my grandaughter Emaline Lott minor children of Emsley Lott, Dec’d do have a certain Negro Man by the name of Primus also one Bed and furnature each extra to that the ballance of my Heirs do have.
The ballance of my property to be disposed of as follows (to witt) I desire that the Heirs of my sone Emsley Dec’d that he had by his fiurst wife Silvey have one share.
2nd I desire that the heirs of my Sone Jesse Dec’d do have one share.
3rd, I desire that the heirs of my daughter Winnefred Bettis do have one share.
4th, I desire that Mary Drake and Martha Frazier daughters of Benjamin Frazier do have the share that would be coming to there Mother if she had lived.
5th, I desire that Elijah and Elishu Bettis, sons of Stephen Bettis Dec’d do have one share a
And I do appoint my grandson John Lott my Soul Executor to this my last will and testament and for him to keep the above named Primus as a compensation for boarding his brother Emsley and Sister Emalineuntil they come of age.Then the said negro to be their property and I do make void all other Wills declaring this to be my last.In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this the 16th day July one thousand Eight hundred and Thirty one and in the Fifty Sixth year of the American Independance. A Codicil to the forgoing will
I will and desire that before any division of my estate is made between the Legatees, that two negros to wit George and Philly be taken out.The one to wit George I give and bequeath unto John Lott to him and his heirs and assignees forever and the other Philly I give and bequeath to Mary Drake a Daughter of Benjamin Frazier to her and her assigns forever.They two negroes I give to the said John Lott and Mary Drake respectively over and above their share in the division of my estate, and the said negroes are not to be valued in any settlement or division of my estate.In witness whereof I set my hand and seal this the twenty seventh day of July one thousand eight hundred and theirty one and in the fifty Sixth year of the American Independence.Signed sealed and acknowledged in the presents of
