Thanks for info. You're right, it is confusing! There could have been more than one Daniel Lothrop in that time period and place.
I have copies of 1850 census, Carroll ME, which shows Daniel & Sabra Lothrop with children Sarah D, Daniel H, and Alice age 4;
1860 census, Winthrop ME, with children Sabra A age 14, Sarah D, Daniel H, Marion E, Louisa N, Mary and Emily (twins);
and 1880 census, North Wayne ME, with children Emily, Lester, and Elmer.
I'm assuming these are all the same family, and that Alice and Sabra A are the same daughter, my ggrandmother.
