Hi Judith:
Just saw your Losee response and am glad that it is current in 2004.
I am researching Ontario Losee/Losie families as well. Although I'm not a direct Losee descendant Losee's are allied to my Mat(t)hews lineage.
I have an Abraham Losie who apparently married a Jane Mat(t)hews and resided in the Kingston, Ontario area (I say apparently as this is second hand undocumented info).
I'm trying to determine if she was a daughter of Thomas Elmes Mat(t)hews of Pickering or perhaps a sister to my John Mat(t)hews also of Pickering (Ontario).
What is interesting is that my John Mat(t)hews and his brother William were born in New Brunswick ( parents unknown). Also the timing is correct for this Abraham Losee to have been a brother of Daniel Losee in Debra Parmenter's response.
Also in my Pickering Ontario Mat(t)hews family (confirmed with documentation) - I have a Ann Losie - parents unknown -who married William Mat(t)hews s/o John Mat(t)ews above and wife Hannah Peak of Pickering (John Mat(t)hews born in New Brunswick ca 1785 and son William in Ontario ca 1817. Ann Losie and William Mat(t)hews married in Whitby, Ontario January 21, 1841.
William Mat(t)hews (brother of John) was born in New Brunswick ca 1786 and he had a daughter named Jane Mat(t)hews who married a Martin Losee around 1844 and they too lived in Whitby.
There doesn't seem to be any other Losee's in the Pickering area so I'm searching for connections and Northumberland is fairly close geographically.
Please let me know if anyone has responded to you regarding Losee's or if you think there may be a connection as I believe there may be.
My direct e-mail is [email protected] to hear from you soon.
