The story is that my great-grandfather Lorenz deserted the Prussian army in the end of the nineteenth century (round 1890?) en found exile in the Netherlands (Amsterdam). From there he took a ship to the Dutch Indies (Batavia, now Jakarta) and stayed there for the rest of his life. He was married with a woman named Geissler or Geisler. May 31 1900 my grandfather Carl Otto Hermann Lorenz was born in Surabaya. Both my great-grandfather and grandfather got their dutch citizenship in the 1920s. Round 1923 Carl Lorenz married Cornelia Hendrika Roggeveen (born April 18 1900, also in Surabaya?). They got 2 sons: my father, Herman Johan Lorenz, born April 21 1925 and Johan ? Lorenz born April 7? 1927? (died in a Japaneze concentration camp during WW II).
I would like to now if a connection could be made to a german or prussian branch of the family. Unfortunately I don't have a first name of my great-grandfather, but since there's a good possibility that either my grandfather or father or uncle was named after my great-grandfather, maybe I should look for a Otto Lorenz or Johann Lorenz.
