I think you are referring to records published in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, April 1922 pp.136-7, entitled "Two Loree Bibles." The first bible (The Axtell Bible) states the following about Timothy Mills and his wife Phebe; "Capt. Timothy Mills died March 8, 1803, aged 85 years" Then on the third line down from the above entry: "Phebe, widow of Timothy----died May 6, 1808, aged 86 years" The second bible mentioned is the Henry D. Loree bible and there is no mention at all of Capt.Timothy Mills or his wife in the second Bible. There is no indication in the published material as to the maiden name of Phebe, wife of Capt. Timothy Mills. I have seen references in on-line genealogies to Phebe having a surname of Lindlsey. This is certainly possible but I do not know if this is conjecture or if there really is proof for this assertion. I remember years ago seeing a Mills genealogy in the Joint Free Library of Morristown, NJ. I think it was privately published. The reference to Phebe being Phebe Lindley might come from that source. I have no access to that Library these days. Sorry that I cannot be more help. Notify Administrator about this message?
