Dorothy Lord, granddaughter of Thomas Lord of hartford? From another Lord?

There is a Dorothy Lord mentioned in a marriage document in Virginia in 1679.

Who was she?

Whoever she was, the marriage doc says she had first married William Stanton. It is presumed that this William was related to Thomas Stanton of Hartford, then later of Stonington CT who married Ann (daughter of Thomas b 1585 who helped found Hartford).

William Stanton died. She was his widow as of 1679.

She then married (in the 1679 marriage) Francis Lord, who was likely the grandson of Thomas via his son John b 1623/24. Francis was probably born in the late 1840s (my guess is 1846 or 47) so this Dorothy - perhaps his first cousin or the daughter of a cousin - was likely also born somewhere between 1845 and 1855.

But, I haven't been able to find a granddaughter (or great-granddaughter) of Thomas 1585 named Dorothy who was born during that time and who could have married Wm Stanton and Francis Lord. Is it possible she was from a different Lord family in the colonies, and if so which one?

Anyone have any solutions, or ideas?
