How lovely to have a forum for our Lopp research!

My Lopp line goes as follows:
1. John Lopp (probably Johan Klopp originally) b. cir 1730-40 Germany; m. Elizabeth Miller cir 1750-60; d. 1801 Rowan Co, NC

2. Andrew Lopp b. cir 1778 Rowan Co, NC; m. Easter Zivelly 15 Apr 1800 Rowan Co, NC; d. 9 Jul 1833 Waterloo, Lauderdale Co, AL; buried Hitchcock Cemetery, Harden Co, TN

3. Alexander Lopp b. 7 Jun 1817 Hardin Co, TN; m. Mary Ann Rutherford 31 May 1838 Polk Co, MO; d. 8 Mar 1876 Hermitage, Hickory Co, MO

4. William Rutherford Lopp b. 27 Jun 1842 Polk Co, MO; m.Eliza Jane Mashburn 30 Sep 1866 Hickory Co, MO; d. 28 Nov 1930 Wheatland, Hickory Co, MO

5. Martha Ann Lopp b. 5 Jul 1868; m. Calvin Cutler Shinn 9 Mar 1884; d. 23 Jun 1941 Kirksville, Adair Co, MO

There are those who say that John, the immigrant, was one of 3 brothers and that the home was at Klopp Castle in Germany. This castle stands today and I have a photo of it in my file although I do not know if this story is true or not.

There is a Johan Jacob Klopp listed on the 1749 Philadelphia Co, PA tax list, the earliest I have found so far. I think that this is either John or perhaps his father. Does anyone have any info to add to this?

Audrae Mathis
