Loos Origin = Clovis - Charlemagne -Loos

Clovis I (Chlodwig, Cholodevech, Hlodowegh, Ludovicus), a Frankish King (466-511), was a noble warrior—he was hated and feared at the same time.
Families derive their surname Loos from the same sources which now yield the Teutonic name of Ludwig.
It is a combination of two old German words "hlod' (fame : glory) and "vig" (battle : warrior).
No doubt it was a name that could be appropriately conferred upon an individual who was admired in the community as being a noble warrior.
It makes its first appearance as "Chlodowig" which medieval scribes latinised into "Ludovicus", and which passed ultimately into French as "Louis" , into German and Dutch as " Loos, Loon or Looz", and into English as "Lewis."
In the old Latin language a OO did not excist, and therefore it is recordet in old documents as comites de Los.
The OO arrived from Chlodwigs Grandchild King Chilperich(537-584). He was a writer and decidet to have his own language. On of this new letter then wa the two OO.
