John, thanks a million for your reply.Iwould be inclined to think, because of the relative unusualness of both Bernard and Loonam in Ireland, that the tweo Bernards came from a common origin.Have you ever heard that Loonam was a very old Beare Peninsula (in Cork) name?You do mention Cloghan, which no doubt you know is a very small place; there is supposed to be a Clonmacnoise connection also.Well, thanks again, and we'll keep on unrolling hack history.There is a Mary Ellen Loonam in Cloghan right now - that also seems to be a family name particularly - have you heard of that combination, used in tandem?best wishes Margaret Connolly.
