Hon. J.H. Loomis was born in Attica, Wyoming Co., NY in 1823. His father, and his mother whose maiden name was COLLAR, were natives of Connecticut. They came to Attica, Wyoming Co., NY in 1816. The former died in 1841, the latter in 1823, while the subject of this sketch was an infant. Hon. J.H. Loomis established himself in the banking business in Attica,NY, in 1867. He has served the town as assessor, and was elected State Senator in 1877.
