Dear Margaret, I looked up Hester Ann in the "Descendants of Jacob and Sarah Loomis" compilation somebody in my extended family did. My source says she is listed in the Lee Co. Iowa census in 1850 (as Esther) (with her parents and siblings) and 1860 (as Hester A.) (with her husband). All census records list her as born in NY. In the 1870 and 1880 census she is recorded with her husband in Jewell Co., KS, where her parents were also and where they eventually died and are buried. In 1890 she and family are listed in the 1890 Census in Payne Co. Oklahoma territory. My family source says she was born in 1836 and married on September 14, 1858 to Timothy Jones/Jaynes, born in PA 1837, and that he fought in the Civil War. Their children are listed as Frank, born in Iowa in 1860, who married Millie, born Michigan 1863; Samuel, born December 25, 1860, who married Rosa, born in Ohio, Lianna/Lienne R., born 1865 (PA); William born 1869 in Iowa; and Junetta/Julia born 1874 in Kansas. One child of Samuel is listed, Russel L. who was either 7 mos or 7 years old in the 1890 census. No more information about the children, maybe you can supply it for a new edition! I am a descendant of John F., one of Hester's brothers and am very excited to find you and possibly independent information about our common ancestors. How firm is your information that William Hartman Loomis was Jacob's father? I have considered and rejected him several times because of inconsistencies with other records (never heard of the Wilsey woman!). (More later, I have to get back to work). P.S. Where do you live now? I grew up in Kansas and now live in New York City. Keep in Touch, Cheryl Notify Administrator about this message?
